Suspect in custody in Julia Campbell’s murder

April 27th, 2007 · No Comments

Some news this morning. Police in the Philippines have arrested Juan Duntugan, the suspect in the murder of Julia Campbell, who was working with the Peace Corps. According to the wires, he turned himself in and said, “I did not plan to kill Ms. Campbell, harm her.” Officials quote Duntugan as saying he had an altercation with another person in town and at some point after that, bumped — literally — into Julia, got mad and hit her with a hard object, which if true makes this even more senseless and sad to me. I guess, though, on the eve of Julia’s service, at least the suspect isn’t still on the loose and that won’t be hanging over things. You can read a version of the AP article here.
