Does the world really need another baby boomer talking about turning 50? My guess is no, but then, as a boomer, it is all about me, isn’t it? I’ve thought about writing a blog about the passage to 50, but have resisted. One reason is a fear of being as honest as I should be about my life and my ambiguous feelings about my age. (I’ve told people, gee, I’m looking forward to 50.) Yet, I will try, mostly to answer the question I pose in the blog post headline and in the photo here — is this a sunrise or a sunset? All I will say about the photo is it was taken in a place where you can see both the sun rise and set in the same day. Like life. Come along on my journey.

Hello, John:
First off, beautiful, beautiful photo. And the question you pose: Is it a sunrise or sunset? makes it all the more breathtaking, because I had to stop and say to myself that it really doesn’t matter. Wow!
Second, I found your blog because I was searching for people turning 50 this year. I specifically DID NOT include the word celebrities in my Google search and I’m glad for that, because I likely wouldn’t have found your posting if I had.
Third, I’m coming to Orlando! Well, at least, I THINK I’m coming, this Friday, May 4. Long story, but I have a pen pal in the federal prison in Coleman, which is northwest of Orlando. I’ll be staying in Clermont, at the Howard Johnson. I just realized I have no idea how long my comment can be, so I better cut this short. Would you be interested in getting together for coffee or a drink while I’m in your area? To talk about the great year of 1957, etc.? I’m at pegsterschulz@yahoo.com
Thanks.

Peggy, Thanks. I’d like to take create for the photo, but although I took it, it was a point-and-shoot, so the camera did all the work. Coleman, now that sounds like a story. That was one of the prisons that where the feds almost sent Martha Stewart. JC
